You don't have to do anything anymore SOWING. It's time to HARVESTING.
🌾 Summer has given you something
All summer long You’ve given—provided, accomplished, always managed to get one more thing done. And in the process, you’ve missed one thing: This summer has given you something, too. The light, the warmth, all those long, full days.
This power now lies within you, just as the grain lies within the stalk when it has ripened.
Walk past a field these days, and you'll notice that nothing is growing anymore. Everything the grain has built up over the summer is now fully grown and bending toward the ground, heavy and full.
The farmers knew that every day counted now, because whatever wasn't harvested would rot in the field. It's no different with your strength.
🌍 The Center — where abundance becomes a reserve
In Chinese medicine Is there a place within you that draws nourishment from everything that comes your way: strength from food, substance from your experiences, and peace from the day?.
The ancient physicians simply called it the “Middle”—the interplay of the spleen and the stomach, to which the late, ripe season of summer belongs.
Early summer was a time of growth; everything was pushing outward and upward. Now the movement is reversing: growth gives way to maturity, and abundance gives way to reserve. It is the time for storing up, and what the center stores up during these weeks is exactly what you will draw upon when the days grow cooler and shorter.
But to do that, it needs something from you. The center loves warmth and tranquility, and it shuns cold and haste. Yet it can also be overwhelmed: by cold food, by rush, by a day that never finds peace. Then the harvest fizzles out instead of coming to fruition.
You can tell by the Feeling full after eating, thoughts that go round and round in circles, a fatigue that runs deeper than usual, and the feeling of never really recharging.
🤲 To harvest means to stop giving
The difficult part is It's not the work itself, but the pause. We can all give. It keeps us moving and makes us feel needed.
It's much harder to receive, because receiving means pausing for a moment and letting something in, instead of jumping right back into action.
And that is exactly what harvesting is: not doing even more, but gathering what has long been there before it slips away from you again.
🍵 Here's how to claim what's yours
You don't need any big plans for this—just a few small decisions every day:
—Eat while it's warm, especially in the morning. Right now, your body gets the most energy from cooked, warm food, while cold and raw foods only drain its energy—it's not the quantity that matters, but the temperature.
—Go to bed earlier. Storing takes place at night, and every hour before midnight counts double.
—Eat one meal a day without your cell phone. Whatever you wolf down on the side just passes right through you and never really sinks in.
🌙 Two minutes in the evening
When you're lying in bed at night, give your inner self the two things it loves most—warmth and peace at the same time, with nothing but your hands.
Rub your palms together until they feel warm; this happens quickly under the blanket. Then place them flat on your stomach, around your navel, and feel the warmth slowly sink inward. Now breathe so calmly that only your hand rises, not your chest, and let your exhalation be a little longer than your inhalation each time.
This isn't about relaxing; it's a gentle signal to your body that it can now hold onto what the day has brought it. Your pulse slows, your stomach relaxes, and sleep comes naturally.
🌾 It's time to harvest
Whoever just keeps on running and sowing will end up empty-handed, even though the field would have been full. Whoever, on the other hand, stops once to bring in the harvest will enter the cooler season well-fed and well-provided for.
For whoever sows sees only the ground. Whoever reaps sees the whole field.
You don't have to sow anything anymore. It's time to harvest.
