Every year you wait for spring. And every year you suffer.
🌬️ The TCM perspective: wind and liver
In TCM, allergies are not an „overreaction“ - they are a sign of a
Imbalance.
And this imbalance has two main players:
1. outer wind (Wài Fēng) Pollen, dust, animal hair - TCM calls them
„Wind“. Wind enters from the outside, mainly through the nose, mouth and skin. It
brings symptoms that come and go, wander and change.
2. inner wind (Nèi Fēng) This is where it gets interesting: Inner wind is created by
Liver imbalance. When the liver energy rises or stagnates,
it generates wind - from the inside.
The connection: A person with a strong liver and balanced Qi can
ward off the outside wind. The pollen comes - and goes. No problem.
A person with a weakened liver or liver qi stagnation is susceptible. The
Outer wind meets inner wind. The result: chaos. Overreaction. Allergy.
That's why so many people have in spring Allergies - exactly when the
liver (wood element) is the most active and the easiest to unbalance.
device.
💚 The liver and the immune system
In TCM, the liver is the „general“ - it ensures the free flow of Qi throughout the body.
When the liver is blocked:
- The Qi accumulates
- Heat is generated
- The heat rises (eyes, nose, head)
- The body becomes hypersensitive
- The smallest stimuli trigger big reactions
In addition, the Wei-Qi also plays a role - the „defense energy“ of TCM. It
sits on the surface of the body and protects against external influences.
The Wei-Qi is controlled by the Lung - but nourished by the Spleen.
Allergy sufferers often:
- The liver stagnates or overheats
- The lungs is weakened (cannot fend off wind)
- The spleen is weakened (produces too much „mucus“)
These three together = allergy susceptibility.
🧠 The western bridge: What happens with allergies
Science confirms the connections:
Histamine: Allergies cause the body to release histamine - a messenger substance,
which triggers inflammation, swelling and itching. The liver is significantly involved in
involved in histamine degradation.
An overloaded liver = more histamine in the system = stronger reactions.
Intestine and immune system: 70-80% of the immune system are located in the intestine. A
A disturbed intestinal microbiome leads to excessive immune reactions. The TCM
says the same thing: weak spleen = weak defense.
Stress and allergies: Studies show: Chronic stress exacerbates
Allergies. Stress hormones increase the release of histamine. TCM says:
Stress stagnates the liver = more internal wind = stronger reaction to external wind.
Cross-reactions: Many pollen allergy sufferers also react to certain
food (birch → apple, grasses → wheat). This shows that it's not just about
the pollen - it's about an overstimulated system.
Two worlds. One insight: allergies are not a local problem.
They are a sign that the whole system is out of balance.
⚠️ The test: Why do YOU react so strongly?
Allergies have different patterns in TCM. Which one suits you?
Pattern 1: Liver QiStagnation with heat
- Red, itchy, burning eyes
- Irritability, frustration
- Tension headaches
- Symptoms get worse under stress
- Bitter taste in the mouth
Pattern 2: Lung Qi weakness
- Constant runny nose (clear mucus)
- Frequent colds
- Shortness of breath
- Low voice, exhaustion
- Cold hands
Pattern 3: Spleen weakness with moisture
- Stuffy nose (thick mucus)
- Feeling of heaviness in the head
- Tiredness after eating
- Flatulence, soft stools
- Deterioration in damp weather
Pattern 4: Combination (most common)
- Mixture of all three
- Different depending on the day/stress
- Sometimes eyes, sometimes nose, sometimes both
Your pattern determines which pillars are most important to you.
🌿 The 5 pillars against spring allergies
1. cool and relax the liver
If the liver overheats or stagnates, it intensifies the allergic reaction.
Install:
- Peppermint tea (cools liver heat)
- Chrysanthemum tea (classic for red eyes)
- Green vegetables: spinach, chard, cucumber
- Bitter substances: dandelion, chicory, rocket
- Avoid: Alcohol, coffee in large quantities, spicy food
Emotional:
- Reduce stress (stress = liver stagnation = more histamine)
- Giving space to anger and frustration - not suppressing it
- Movement that relaxes: Qi Gong, yoga, walks
📣 Insider tip: For acute itchy eyes: cold black tea bag on the eyes
lay. The tannins cool and soothe immediately.
→ This week: Daily peppermint or chrysanthemum tea. No alcohol.
2. strengthen the lungs
The lungs control the Wei-Qi - your external defense.
Weak lungs = wind penetrates more easily.
Install:
- Pears (nourish the lung yin)
- Almonds (strengthen the lungs)
- Radish, radishes (open the lungs)
- Ginger and honey tea (warms and strengthens)
- Breathe deeply: 5 minutes of conscious abdominal breathing daily
Avoid:
- Dairy products (produce mucus - especially if you have a blocked nose)
- Cold drinks
- Air conditioning (dries out the lungs)
📣 Insider tip: Nasal douche with salt water. Flushes out pollen, moisturizes the nose
Mucous membrane, strengthens the local defenses.
→ As of today: Daily nasal douche (in the morning or after being outside).
3. strengthen the spleen - dissolve phlegm
If the spleen is weak, „dampness“ and „mucus“ are produced. This clogs the
nose and makes your head heavy.
Install:
- Eat warm and cooked (not raw)
- Rice, potatoes, carrots, pumpkin
- Ginger, cardamom, caraway (transform moisture)
- Small meals, chew well
- Don't eat too late
Avoid:
- Sugar (feeds moisture)
- White flour
- Dairy products
- Deep fried
- Too much raw food
📣 Insider tip: Warm rice congee in the morning - strengthens the spleen like nothing else
other. 👉 Recipe: www.meine-tcm.com/winter-congee-gegen-erschoepfung
→ This week: No dairy products. Observe whether the nose becomes clearer.
4. avoid histamine traps
Some foods contain a lot of histamine or release it - and make the symptoms worse.
Histamine-rich (avoid during allergy season):
- Red wine, beer
- Matured cheese
- Smoked and cured meats
- Tomatoes, strawberries, citrus fruits
- Sauerkraut, vinegar
- Chocolate
- Finished products with glutamate
Low histamine (preferable):
- Fresh meat, fresh fish
- Rice, potatoes
- Fresh vegetables (except tomatoes)
- Apples, pears, melon
- Fresh herbs
📣 Insider tip: Keep a symptom diary. What did you eat? How strong
were the symptoms? After 2 weeks you will see patterns.
→ This week: Start a histamine diary.
5 Start in good time - not when it's too late
The biggest mistake: waiting until the symptoms are there.
The TCM approach:
- Start 4-6 weeks BEFORE the pollen season
- Strengthen the system before the attack comes
- Balance the liver, lungs and spleen
- Then the wind hits a fortress - not an open gate
When you're in the middle of it:
- Everything mentioned above still helps
- Additionally: TCM herbs and acupressure for acute symptoms
- Patience: the body needs time to regulate itself
→ Next year: Start in February, not in April.
🌿 TCM herbs for allergies
Diet and lifestyle are the basis. But sometimes it takes more.
Herbal therapy has been the most powerful pillar of TCM for over 2,000 years.
Wolfgang and Qi Bo recommend two strategies for allergies:
💊 Basic formula: Allergit from Ansuhenne
Is your immune system overreacting?
Then there is no need for suppression - but education.
Allergit contains 4 medicinal mushrooms with Ling Zhi (Reishi) as the main mushroom. They act as
Immunomodulators - do not make the immune system stronger, but smarter.
It learns to distinguish friend from foe again.
For you, if: You suffer from allergies every year and your immune system
want to regulate in the long term.
⏱ It is best to start 4-6 weeks before the pollen starts. 8-12 weeks at a time
take. 👉 www.meine-tcm.com/produkt/allergit
💊 Acute formula: The flying crane from Anshen Herbs
Your nose is running NOW. Your eyes are burning NOW.
No slow build-up will help.
The flying crane contains 15 classic TCM herbs. They dispel wind,
clear the nose and eyes and support the Wei-Qi - at the same time.
For you, if: you need quick acute help.
⏱️ As soon as the symptoms begin: take for 7-21 days, then take a break.

💡 The professional tip: Combine both! Allergit as a daily basis for weeks -
that educates the guardian. The flying crane as an acute aid for relapses - the
dispels the wind. Basic daily. Acute only when needed.

💫 The deeper message
Your allergy is not your destiny. It is a signal.
Your body says: „Something is wrong here.
The system is overstimulated. I need help.“
Pollen is not the problem.
The problem is a body out of balance.
If you treat the root - Liver, lungs, spleen - then the wind,
who comes from outside will no longer have any power over you.
That takes time. It takes patience.
It is not a quick fix.
But it is possible.
Manage symptoms no less.
But Heal deeper.
„The wind blows. The bamboo bends. But it doesn't break - because its roots are strong.“
