A shock swirls up. Your center always finds you again.
Shock from the TCM perspective
In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), shock (Chinese: "Jing" 惊) is part of the interaction between the heart and kidneys:
- Heart (Shen) - your spirit, your clarity, your calm.
- Kidneys (Jing) - your root, your primal force, your sense of security.
A sudden shock tears this connection apart.
The heart loses its calm, the Shen becomes restless.
Your kidneys lose their grip, you feel as if the ground is slipping away beneath you.
⚡️ Typical signs:
- Palpitations, nervousness
- Inner restlessness or feelings of anxiety
- Shortness of breath, pressure on the chest
- Superficial, restless sleep
- the feeling of not being "completely with yourself"
🌿Rituals that bring you back
When the shock tears you from your center, you don't need any more thoughts.
But rituals that gather your Qi again, that bring you back into your body - and let you feel it: You are still here.

🔎 What your tongue tells you
In TCM, the tongue is a mirror of your inner balance.
A thin, nervous tongue may indicate heart restlessness.
A pale tongue shows that your roots (kidney energy) are exhausted.

🌙 Sleep problems - when the shock continues to have an effect
It is difficult to fall asleep, thoughts are racing, sleep remains superficial. In TCM, this means that the heart has lost its calm, the Shen is wandering.

✨ Conclusion
Shock pulls you out of the moment. But you are not broken.
Your body knows how to find its way back - if you give it space.
One breath. One movement. A small exercise.
And maybe then you will feel it:
Your center was never really gone.
She was just shaken.
And she finds you again.
A shock can shake you, but it can never extinguish your inner strength.
