How to understand a TCM diagnosis
In TCM, complaints are not considered in isolation. Instead, we look for fundamental energetic imbalances: Patterns such as Qi deficiency, Yin deficiency, Yang weakness, internal heat or dampness, etc.
These terms may seem unfamiliar at first glance - but they describe very precisely where your body needs support.
It is therefore possible that your current symptom is not directly mentioned in the diagnosis.
More importantly: Your result shows the root of your energetic imbalance. And this is exactly where we come in.
Based on your answers, the result is as follows:
Spleen Yang Deficiency & Kidney Yang Deficiency
In TCM, yang stands for the warming, driving and restorative force in the body. It ensures that our organs function, that our body temperature is maintained and that we have sufficient energy.
A spleen-yang deficiency means
- The spleen can no longer properly convert the ingested food and drink into Qi and blood.
- Symptoms are: Fatigue after eating, bloating, flatulence, loss of appetite, soft stools or diarrhea, tendency to water retention.
- The spleen is also responsible for lifting the Qi "upwards" - a weak Spleen Yang can therefore also lead to a heavy, sluggish body feeling.
A kidney yang deficiency means:
- The kidneys are no longer able to warm the body sufficiently and stabilize the life energy (Qi).
- Typical symptoms are: Shivering, cold hands and feet, weakness in the lower back and knees, fatigue, possible loss of libido or water retention (edema).
- In TCM, the kidneys also represent our "basic energy", our constitution - a deficiency can therefore indicate profound exhaustion.
In summary, kidney and spleen yang deficiency:
- Depth Physical exhaustion
- Feeling cold in the body
- Digestive problems (e.g. bloated stomach, loss of appetite, diarrhea)
- Feeling of weakness in the lower back and legs
- Water retention (e.g. swollen legs, face)
- Emotional signs such as listlessness, anxiety or insecurity
- Often also a pale, slightly puffy face
Causes of kidney and spleen yang deficiency can be
- Chronic exhaustion (physical or mental)
- Excessive exposure to cold or wet conditions (e.g. cold, damp environment)
- Too much raw food, cold drinks, too few hot meals
- Overwork, lack of sleep, long periods of stress
- Age-related weakness (Yang naturally decreases with age)
Our tips:
What helps from a TCM perspective?
The most important tool of TCM is herbal therapy.
In traditional Chinese medicine, medicinal herbs are specifically combined and processed into a recipe. The herbs are prepared according to a special concept carefully selected for each diagnosis.
Each herb has its own special properties - some are restorative, others protective, others ensure that everything remains in balance.
It is only through this careful combination that the herbs unfold their full power: they support your body exactly where it needs help and bring it back into its natural balance step by step.
Tip 1: Recommended TCM herbs
In the case of simultaneous spleen yang deficiency and kidney yang deficiency, Weidinger Mixture No. 08 "Warm Center" is the first choice - it warms and tonifies the yang of the spleen, lungs and kidneys.
Recommended intake (for adults):
- 3 × 2 tablets daily
- a total of 6 tablets per day
This dosage can be adjusted individually if necessary.
Directions for use:
- Ideally take approx. 15-30 minutes before meals with warm water.
- Alternatively, if you have a sensitive stomach, take directly after eating.
- It should be taken over several weeks - preferably 4-6 weeks as a cure.
Customization possible if required:
In the case of acute complaints or in consultation with a TCM specialist, a short-term increase to 3 × 3 tablets is possible.
Particularly sensitive people can also start with 2 × 2 tablets daily and increase slowly.
If the kidney yang deficiency is particularly pronounced (e.g. back pain, frequent urge to urinate, feeling of coldness in the lumbar region), a supplement with Weidinger Mixture No. 20 "Strong Back, Strong Essence" is recommended.
If you would also like to take Weidinger Mixture No. 20 "Strong back, strong essence", you can combine both mixtures in equal parts.
Take 2 tablets of each mixture 3 times a day - i.e. 4 tablets per intake, for a total of 12 tablets per day.
