The breathing is one of the simplest and most effective ways to very quickly get into a state of relaxation or free yourself from stress. It does not require complicated instructions. Simply observing your own breath has a mentally and physically relaxing effect.
The way we breathe reveals how we are feeling right now! When you are excited or stressed, you breathe quickly and shallowly. When you're scared, your breathing stops. You snort when angry. If you are relaxed, you breathe calmly and evenly.
By the way we breathe, an experienced therapist can easily tell how we are doing mentally.
The simplest and most original form of meditation is concentration on one's own breath. In meditation, the body remains in stillness while one traces the flow of the breath. Qi Gong is a movement meditation with great potential. It involves influencing the breath through movements. Qi Gong performed in full awareness will very quickly relax you and make you forget the stress of everyday life.
